A Mile south of Heaven
We are glad that you found us! Glacier Lodge is a privately owned twenty acre guest ranch in the heart of the rocky mountain west. Our cabin style lodging coupled with the outdoor wilderness location, varied amenities, and a light cowboy western flavor, makes the Glacier Lodge brand of western hospitality both fun and family friendly!
Glacier Lodge consists of about 30 rustic, Western-decor buildings, of various sizes, with common exteriors, and similar interior finishing. They are all a bit unique in character and charm, and are evenly and openly spaced around the clean and well cared for grounds. They are nestled under towering pines on the banks of the rushing Big Thompson River, with mountains on all sides. At 7,800 feet, the elevation provides cool evenings that invite you to use your fireplace, but the sunny days of summer are hot enough to make the seasonal swimming pool inviting.
Children and Parents will enjoy several open grassy areas for playing catch, Frisbee, and lawn games. There is also a sandbox and playground for younger children. Basketball, horseshoes, and ping pong equipment are available.
The SK Corral our livery is out back and is downwind. The livery is open the the public. Even if you do not ride... it's just fun to have the animals on property.
If you are lucky enough to visit this place, which is about 90 minutes northwest of Denver and about a mile south of heaven, there is plenty to do;
You can step outside the front door of your cabin and toss a line into the gurgling Big Thompson and if you are lucky, you can pull out a beautiful, foot-long rainbow trout. You can walk out back to the stables, and ride a horse up Giant Track mountain, to gawk at God's handiwork below.
You can get in your car and, in five minutes , be hiking up a trail in rocky mountain national park, to photograph all types of amazing wildflower meadows, rock formations, spectacular mountain top panoramas and abundant wildlife.
You can haul the kids into Estes Park, a resort town just three miles away, to eat pizza or buy souvenirs or ride the suspended cable cars up the mountain. Or you can just sit on your cabin deck, as the sun disappears on a cool evening, and wonder what it's like to live here.
Glacier Lodge is conveniently located; One and half miles from the Beaver Meadows entrance of Rocky National Park. The National Park Headquarters, and Back-Country Office are even closer. The property is 3.5 miles from the main downtown dinning and shopping areas and 1 mile from the YMCA Center of the Rockies.
